365 Days of Art: Day 239 – Starting to Draw a Raven

The challenge: Create some form of visual art, no matter how small, each day for a full year.

I promise you I did art yesterday, but I forgot to post this.

I’m starting to draw a raven. I’m excited to start this because it’s black, which will make this an interesting study, and this particular raven wasn’t photographed at a straight angle, so it’s challenging.

It’s. Really. Freaking. Challenging.

Anyway, yesterday in car line, I got the beginning of the raven done, but I still need to work on the insides. Because it’s at a weird angle. I need to get the body right before I start.

Did I mention that the raven being all black makes it hard to see where all the parts are?

Anyway, here is the raven I’ve drawn so far:

Here is my reference photo. I’m going to be struggling with the head angle for a bit on this one.
